Memory
Most assistants have amnesia. You tell them something on Monday and by Tuesday it is gone. Carae is an AI assistant that remembers: the useful facts of your life stay with it, and it brings them back exactly when they matter.
What Carae remembers
Carae's memory keeps facts, not transcripts. As you chat, it quietly notes the things worth keeping: your daughter's name, that you are training for a half marathon, that you hate 9am meetings, that your landlord is called Marta. Those facts come back automatically in future conversations, without you repeating yourself.
There is nothing to file and nothing to organise. It is closer to an AI second brain that builds itself while you talk than to any notes app you have used.
Teach it, correct it, make it forget
Memory is controlled in plain chat:
- "Remember that I switched to oat milk." Saved.
- "Actually, forget the oat milk thing." Gone.
- "What do you know about me?" Carae plays back what it remembers about that.
If it remembers something slightly wrong, correct it in a sentence, the same way you would with a person.
For the full picture, open What Carae remembers on your dashboard. Everything is grouped (about you, people, money, health, travel), you can search it, delete a single memory, or clear the lot with Forget everything, which asks twice.
Memory in action
Three weeks after you mention your sister's birthday in passing, you ask Carae to help plan a weekend visit. It already knows the date, remembers she lives in Lyon, and suggests booking around the birthday dinner. You never briefed it. That is the difference between an AI assistant with memory and one that starts from zero every morning.
How it stays tidy
Every plan comes with memory, and Companion and Pro hold the same amount of your world in mind. Memory also looks after itself. Tell Carae the same thing twice and it keeps one memory, not two. A memory tied to a date (your flight on Friday) stops being used the day after; a passing situation (a cold this week) after 30 days; lasting facts stay until you remove them. Memories that are no longer used sit under "No longer used" on the page and are erased for good after 90 days.
Where your memories live
Your memories are stored on EU servers and encrypted, with a separate key for each person. Your conversations themselves are kept for 90 days. The full rules live in the Privacy Policy, and Privacy & Your Data shows how to export or delete everything.
